View Full Version : Troll Plate too short...

I put on a new Happy Troller and to my surprise
it only reaches down to the centerline of the
prop. At a dead idle i can only slow to 2.75 mph.
Haven't caught a walleye in 2 years of trolling.
Has anyone ever extended a troll plate or heard
of that being possible. I'm wondering if it would
withstand the extra stress applied.
18' Thompson w/ a 155hp V6 I/O.
Thanks....................................

Hi and welcome

Sounds to me like you got the wrong size.

Ditto, Shoeman.

They make 2 sizes, and it sounds like you've got the small one.

I bought the large one, the problem is that
the fin is higher above the prop than on any other
boat i've seen. I have the width, just not the
excessive length. The outdrive is a 1972 OMC.
What about ideas on a bolt on extension?

A Buddy of mine Cut a hole in the center of his Happy troller to help with the Exhaust and then enlarged the whole plate by covering with thin stainless and hasn't had a problem yet and that was 2 years ago !! He has a 350 V8 I/O -- He now can bring it down to about .7 mph
