Hit the river this morning at 6am in a two vessel attack, with Ozzgood in my boat and Chamookman gunning solo.
First things first.....the tibb is running a bit fast for what we wanted to do (catch bass), but we managed a few bites. We saw one of those big jugs used to mark stumps, only it was swimming upstream along green island. It was moving quite fast against the current, and I had my MinnKota on 100 just to keep even with it and keep moving for the 200yds we followed it. So what was on the other end? Thinking we may get a look at a big turtle or something we tried to get a handle on it. Now let me tell you the force on the other end of the jug with 1/2 inch rope tied to it, was too much for both me and Chad, both gripping the jug/rope with both hands on the bow, and this thing started pulling the boat upstream! Still do not know what it was, we gave up, monster snapper????? 2 full grown guys and we didn't even budge this thing.
Now the fishing. We managed the grand slam, smallies, catfish, sheeps, a pike, white bass, and even Mr. Walleye made a grand appearance.
Walleye don't hit bass crankbaits right? Wrong. I've been using bass cranks for weeks on my local lake to get eyes in 2fow. I knew I hooked a huge fish but I wasn't quite expecting what came up.

A quick rough measurement showed between 27-28 inches, no scale on board, but she was fat, not a slender summer river eye.
It was an excellent day all around, we caught plenty, and got some sun. Hooters was good, except their crappy dock in saginaw.
Chamook in action.
