easy and good
Bass Filets
Garlic powder
Ground black pepper
Salt to taste
Fresh lemon juice
Aluminum foilDirectionsPlace filets onto the aluminum foil. Sprinkle with garlic powder, pepper, and salt. Add a few tablespoons of butter around the fish. Place onion rings on top of the filets. Sprinkle with lemon juice, if you like. Place another piece of foil about the same size as the bottom piece on top of the filets. Roll the edges to make a large "pocket". Place in the oven on about 350-375 degrees. Bake until done. Enjoy!

I like to let mine soak overnight in a combination of 6 cups water, 1/2 cup lemon juice, and 1tblsp salt.
When I cook them, I usually fry them in butter with a batter of 2 cups flour, 1 tblsp garlic salt, and pepper to taste.
I tricked my friends mother so many times using this method. I told her it was walleye(the only fish she will eat). I also have used it with all species of fish besides the bottom feeders.

I will use smaller bass (<16") fillet and cube up and coat in a season flour (flour w/ Lawery's salt. pepper, onion, garlic etc) mix and deep fry.

I thought everyone knew bass were so full of mercury that that would die within 5 years of your first feast. Oh well I guess you live and you learn. or do you?

I thought that was true with the Walleye in the Detroit area :fish:
It take balls to eat fish caught in front of some of those factories with 20 smoke stacks you see on the waters edge out there :yikes:

By the way, if you want to experience a nasty tasting fish, try Walleye from Meijers! :fish2:

Smallmouth are like big bluegills to me and are just as good eating
as any walleye IMAO!
And as a bonus...they actually put up a good fight unlike Wimpy Eyes
which we refer to as French Eyes due to there immediate surrender
tendency.

Just fry them up like any other fish works for me!

I think bass taste great when prepared well. I always soak my bass in milk for a few hours. This takes away in muddy taste that may be there. I then will prepare it as I would perch or walleye. mmmmm good.
To those that never keep them because they don't think it tastes good...I thank you!:D

you people are funny...bass tastes like any other white meated fish, makes more sense keeping a limit of bass vice panfish..less cleaning, more meat and just as good. too many consider a bass the "ultimate" sportfish that should be released:lol: yep, guess we will fish them out too quick:lol:

take your filets get them slighty damp
roll in crushed Ritz crackers
sprinkle garlic salt
fry in olive oil

serve with coleslaw and cornbread and a good Ale, Sam Adams will do:corkysm55

!

thats funny, walleyes are about a worthless gamefish, sure they eat good, but..that is the only redeeming quality they have. i'd rather stick a stick in my eye than troll around in a chop all day to catch something you just reel in, i've caught 4 over 30"s in my life and they didnt even pull drag:lol:
