Stoney Creek bass

I started shoreline fishing at Stony Creek Metro Park this year for the first time. So far it has been great. I’ve only been there about five times since the opening for catch and release bass and the waters have produced well. I’ve landed about five largemouth between 14 and 18 inches and a couple smaller ones. I also brought in a 24” pike this past Thursday. All of these fish were caught on spinner baits. I’ve been having the best luck during late afternoon and evening. I don’t understand why people have been saying that Stony is a poor Bass fishing lake. The bass I’ve seen have been very nice in size. From my short experience fishing Stony I would say that it is a good lake in producing larger bass. I may not have caught a lot, but the ones I did catch were pretty nice. And remember I was SHORELINE fishing. I don’t have a boat so shore fishing is pretty much all I do.

Welcome to the site. A couple of friends and I after school on fridays go there and fish by the north dam and have seen many bass caught there. Many are arround 18 inches. Most of the ones I've seen caught were caught on thundersticks.

Whoever told you Stoney is a bad bass lake is probably trying to hide their spot. That lake has PIGS and alot of them.

I personally have caught 3 bass, over 5lbs, on jitterbugs after dark off of 28 mile rd. Bad news is there is no where legal to park off of 28 mile rd, the best way to get back there after dark is by mountian bike. Last year just after Ice out we pulled a 32 in Northern just north of the dam on a buzzbait. I would say that stoney holds a lot of large fish that are underfished.

havent fished stoney in a while good update
