Wondering if anyone has saw any carp spawning or in the shallows? Looking to do some bowfishing soon.

Several people were discussing this yesterday in the other thread:
Carp or Gar (http://www.michigan-sportsman.com/forum/showthread.php?t=139596)
Some suggestions for places to go were made and on report that they were already splashing around in the shallows along Lake Erie, if I am remembering right.

The carp should be spawning right now! Here in the U.P. if the weather is nice, the carp get up in the shallows and spawn either the last week in May first week in June. They are usually thicker than thieves right now. Best thing is to check backwaters around the ares you plan on bowfishing. Oh and bring your bow while you check these areas out. This is a time where you can shoot some of the largest carp in the system! Good luck!

I second the Saginaw Bay...I have been shooting carp there for 25 years now and it is still top notch. They get so thick out there you have to kick your way through them to get into deeper water(2-3 ft.) so it is at least semi challenging...

went out bowfishing Saturday & Sunday night on Lake Erie out of metropark launch. We did OK on saturday but slayed them on Sunday. Largest was 29 pounder, lots of big gar, lots of carp in the 10 -15 pound range. Good time was had by all. Saturday we had 3 newbies on the boat Brent & son Kyle and Todd's son Ryan who is just about 3 years old.
Sunday we had 2 newbies one from Fla. and his brother from MI.
