We are looking for a cabin up north on a good fishing lake. Does anyone have any info on Lake Manuka in Gaylord?

Last time I was there, I caught alot of small slimers. That was last year. I have caught my biggest largemouth outta that lake though. 22.5" prespawn female. Not too much action though.

Thanks Mike. Am I correct in guessing that the "slimers" are Pike?? Do you know if there are any Walleye or Smallies?
Thanks

It's funny that you ask about Manuka. I love that lake! And I will actually be leaving in the morning to go there from K-zoo. Everytime I fish it I usually catch at least 20 LM bass. Unfortunately they are all 13 3/4 inches.;) I don't know why, but you can catch those suckers all day long. The biggest bass I've taken was 18 out of Manuka. Two years ago my bro caught a 36in pike. The water levels seem to be decreasing every year which has been the main downside to that lake, it can be tough at times to launch a boat.
If you are looking in the general Gaylord area there are many other lakes to choose from. My second fave is Big Bradford, then Opal, Guthrie, many more to choose from all with houses and cabins. Even Otsego if you like bigger lakes.

This post may be too late if you've already gone but Otsego lake is the best for walleye.
