Got a lesson on how to fish weapons last night in Brest Bay, a mile or two south of the point. Two man limit in a little over 2 hours. Nothing huge, 16" - 23" fish, all good groceries.

Lots of white bass and only on sheepie.

If he is using Weapons, I would think he would be drifting...

Have you been out at all KC???

Well I guess it's pretty obvious that don't know what "the weapon" is!:dizzy:

Corey - yeah I have been out a few times, thanks for your concern. But between an outdrive problem, lousy weather, and a couple of pretty poor jigging trips I haven't had much to report. I finally broke out the big sticks this past weekend and picked up a limit out in front of Toledo Beach in shallow (13 ft.). Interesting that I was unable to pick up a single fish on the spoons yet. All came on various cranks and a bottom bouncer rig. Also have been weeding through alot of white bass this season.

Gonna try my first salmon trip of te year out of St. Joe's this weekend!:D

Based on your reports, it looks like you're having a pretty good season!

Drifting. I don't think I used $5 worth of gas. Nice on the wallet. We did go through 4 dzn crawlers. Lots of bait stealers out there.

Here is a link on how to make a weapon. This is what I tied up, in various colors, and fished the other day. Gold blade, gold beads and copper blade, copper beads worked best for me. My buddy was copper blade, green and yellow beads worked for him.

Try it, they work. I'm usually a troller. Spoons, reef runners, shad raps, t-sticks, is my standard routine. This is a good technique to add to the playbook.

that is the same rig i use, minus the sinker, on my bottom bouncers. i am only using 1/3 of a "normal" size crawler. on occasion, when the wind is "calm" (on erie it's rare) i will put a rubber core sinker above a swivel to imitate the weapon rig pictured and cast and retrieve. i have had success down in maumee bay, early in the year, using this rig with minnows for eyes as well. very versatile rig....crawlers, minnows, leeches and gulp baits have worked for me.

thanks for the link Hunt4Ever....see you saturday!!!!!:D

Hey Hunt4Ever - Ever try Gulp Nightcrawlers by Berkley??? We have put them to use and those "BaitStealers" can't get em off the hook...worth the 5 bucks a package....Chartreuse and natural work best for us

KC - I can't complain for us on our season so far, we have been pretty lucky with the gatorabcks...Look us up - you know were out there
Good Luck on those Salmon this weekend, we are eager to get back up to Erieau and Wheatley this summer for the "Pickeral" and "bows"
Screaming reels, it gets no better!
