I'm going to be getting an canoe rack for the truck that extends out of my hitch. But it looks like I'm going to have to order it because I can't find the kind that swivel locally. So I have two questions:
1) does anyone know where I can buy one that swivels with in about 45 min. drive from Port Huron.
2) How should I transport my canoe if I don't pick one up before my trip this weekend? (would just the foam on the roof with 3 tie downs work?)

Foam rail blocks that are made for canoes work well, but I used a single Yakima roof rack bar. It's alot more solid.
BTW, if you have a previous body style Ford I can let the bar go cheap.
This was the rear swivel rack I made for my setup.

No I don't. That looks nice. That's the type of style I'd like to get too. That wouldn't work with a 99 dodge dakota? I guesse I'm a little confused.
Thanks for responding.

I know this won't work in this instance but this is how I have loaded my canoes on the roof of my vehicles that had car top carriers or racks on my truck toppers for many years.
I run two pieces of pipe front to back on the racks, one on each side of the vehicle. After putting the bow on the pipe on one side simply pick up the stern off the ground and slide the canoe crossway's of the vehicle. Then you can spin it length ways and tie it down.
It beats trying to lift it up and trying to place it length ways onto the racks.
I would like to shoot the designers of vehicles that got rid of the drip channels on cars and trucks.

Actually,
The only difference when mounting the rack to different vehicles is the Brand specific "hook" that can be purchased seperately for the towers.
I've got two towers, which are sold seperately, and two cross bars, which are sold as a pair.
The rack in my pictures was the rear that I made, it doesn't show the rack.

 Well instead of getting a swivel t bar I went ahead and went out and bought the stationary one. This is it http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0012493512499a&navCount=3&podId=0012493&parentId=cat20169&navAction=jump&cmCat=Related_IPL_521947&catalogCode=IG&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat20169&hasJS=true
Now my only concern is that I don't have spots in the front of the truck to do a y tie down. So I'm going to have to just go thu the front doors and then a tie down in the back to either the extension itself or back further into D rigns in the truck bed. Not sure if it will work or not??
