We'll be launching tonight at St. Jeans to try an get a few. Anyone else headed out?

It looks like people have been getting some on harnesses, is jigging starting to slow down or is it still producing well? We're taking both just in case.

I was out yesterday and saw a lot of harnesses on the ends of people's lines. I also heard from a friend of a successful harness trolling day Saturday.
I did nothing with a jig or harness so I may not be the best source of info.

Jigged near Belle Isle on Saturday with no luck. Moved down near the Free Press building and caught my limit.

Two questions:

How far down is the Free Press Building?

Do they lock the gate if you are there after 9?

Hopefully we will be out of there by then but I don't want to get stuck.

Free Press building is just East of the Am. Bridge and West of the Post Office.

St. Jean's new hours are til 11pm on the weekdays. They changed from 9pm close to 11 about 2 weeks or so ago.

The Free Press building is south of the Ren Cen. You'll see Cobo/Joe Louis, then the Post Office, then the Free Press Bldg. Depending on the size of your motor and how bad the chop is, the time will vary. I have a 30hp and it took about 15 minutes to get there from St. Jean's.

South of the Rencen is the river and Windsor. Free Press is WEST of Rencen.:)

sand piles over off peche island, canadian waters were good for us saturday..fish are moving deeper. hence the fre press building...30-40 FOW down that way....andy

The fourty foot plus water from the Free Press to below the Ambassador produced well for me on Saturday AM. Some of the largest fish so far also. Was still jigging, planning on trying my luck with harnesses this weekend.

I am definitely still learning and my knowledge of spots are limited. We only managed one last night jigging in front of the grandstands. We stayed till just before dark. I have all of the handlining gear but haven't tried yet since I have been doing pretty well jigging.

Looks like I am gonna have to give it a shot.

Thanks, I have not even put a rod in the boat these last few weeks because trolling has been working so well.
