We launched from St. Jean's at 7 and headed south of the Belle Isle Bridge. We jigged with brown worms tipped with crawlers. I got a couple silver bass and my son got nothing.
The winds were blowing HARD and boat control was a pain in the butt. We tried trolling with bottom bouncers and crawler harnesses. ZIppo. We moved a couple times and noticed a bunch of boats NORTH of the BI bridge. We saw a few netted but we pretty much bagged it by then.
Spent about 3 hours out there and vowed to not hit the water again when it's blowing like this.
Ran into d (Kurt) at the launch. No surprise, he and his two mates limited out. Nice job HW.

I went out on Saturday to shoot some carp with my son. The wind was a little strong but being so close to shore and with the wind coming out of the west made no difference, but the water was so stained that I ended up only seeing two. One being a carp and the other was a pike. My boy liked running the electric motor, so it was not a total waste.

Yikes!!! That's pretty gross. I hope there aren't too many more fish like that in the river. I've caught fish with sores before, but never anything like that. ANd now that I know what you look like Andy, I should be able to spot you out there. I'll be the guy fishing with latex gloves. LOL!

Yea that fish is bad! Its not pollution or cancer tumors. Its a disease that is passed form fish to fish. Its best, when you get a fish that bad to just throw it in a garbage bag and count it as your limit or toss it in a trash can ASAP.
those are better kept out of the water. Its spread from fish to fish.

Planning on going to Erie on Wednesday. I am hoping with the warmer temps rolling through it will spark some fish.
