I'll second the Lockeman's recommendation, assumng that your brand of motor is one they work on.

I use Bi-State Marine. They are south of Monroe about half mile off I-75 at exit 2. It takes me about an hour to get down there from I-696 and I-75. Guys have worked on my inboard outboard 5.7 liter engine with Volvo duo-prop outdrive since 1994. And they have been working on my Opti-max for the past 5 seasons as well. They can be reached at 734-848-4749. They have been around for a long time and understand all types of motors.

First of all what outboard are you running?
If it is a Johnson/Evinrude Lockeman's gets another vote.
If it is a Merc then give the guys at Marine Master's in Wyandotte a call. THey did some work on a friends late model 4 stroke and it runs great.

40hp Evinrude. Runs good on the top end and crappy at low rpm. In April I changed plugs and plug wires after major loss of power. Gas was fresh. Plugs were burning uneven(one w/more carbon).
Anyway, thanks for the references.

look for cracks or leaks in the coils or a faulty power pack. that may be all it is.
switch coil to another cyllinder and see if it loads up with carbon.they go bad often.will work after they warm up at high speed.i used to order parts from johnsons marina in minnesota. 25 percent off list and no tax.2-4 day delivery and good diagnosis over the phone. 50 years in buisness.saved my *** a few times.

yea I can second bill rose as well. He is in a great spot on a canal and the last time I had OB work done there, on a small 25 hp mariner, his mechanic took me out into the lake with the boat. ....thats nice..andy .
I'm having some work done at Personalized Marine Maintenance. Had a
recommendation to take my boat there. 313-838-8387
Near Schoolcraft and Evergreen. The guy there has been very helpful,
been talking to him about my next possible boat purchase. Seems
knowledgeable about repairs, boats and current fishing reports from
customers.
