Hi Guy's
I'm new to fishing the detroit river and so far have only launched at Elizabeth park. I live in madison heights and was hoping to find somewhere a little closer.
Can you recommend any launchs where I could access the upper part of the river. I only have a 14ft lund boat so launching in lake st clair and travelling is probably not an option on a windy day.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks
Simon

This thread might help. St. Jeans is nice even on windy days you can fish protected by the belle isle bridge or the rooster tail. Alter road will handle your boat with out a problem. also do a search on St. Jeans and alter road. Lots of directions and info.

Ed,
I was reading an earlier post about the no wake zone between St. Jean's launch and the Belle Isle bridge. Do you where this zone is located? Is it the entire lane from the launch to the bridge? Is it only within a certain proximity to the yacht clubs on the mainland side of the river?
Thanks
John

it depends which officer pulls you over.the no wake zone is supposed to be from the tip of the island to the bridge but if you stay between the markers in the channel , nobody bothers you. just don't rip through there at full speed and you'll be fine.it is not marked very well either.

Thanks DT, I had no idea. I've been down there 6-7 times and have always zipped out of the launch right towards the B.I. Bridge. YIKES! I don't need a ticket, that's for sure.

Is there no white markers to mark the no wake zones in american waters? There is in canadian waters. Right at each end of peche island. For those that didn't know, the cop boats are all in at the marina on canadian side of peche. Be watchfull making your runs through there, it is a no wake zone.

Look here, it looks like it goes from the eastern tip of Belle Isle to St. Aubin Marina (Tri Centennial State Park).
