I was just thinking the same thing. Hate to haul the boat up if the fishing has been slow.

I fished this morning out of Augres till 2:00pm and all we caught was a sucker on a harness rig, trolling of all things. We fished everywhere from the Spark Plug to the Can and places East towards the Islands. Hell, we didn't even mark any fish out there. Did mark a lot of fish straight out from the Orange Water tower in 23to 26 FOW, North of the AuGres River. But thats when and where we picked up the sucker. But as far as suckers go...he's a nice specimen.
Then we talked to a guy putting in as we were pulling out who had fished all morning out of Linwood. He also caught nothing in the inner Bay mud, and thought finding clearer waters was the key. So it don't look good any where right now.

I keep my boat in AuGres and for me I have never done well tight to shore.
My fav's are in an area between Pt Augres and the Rifle Bar and the area
off Sag. Bar. Water clairity has alot to do with it as well. With all this rain I
would expect to see most of the innerbay the color of chocolate milk. Tough
fishing! The first part of the month people were doing well off the Pine in 9 feet or less but I am sure that has changed by now. Weather permiting I may throw on some stick baits and do alittle brown/steelhead prospecting off Pt Lookout and wait for the water to clear up a bit. Be safe not sorry. DC

Last week when I fished the FLW tournament the water was alot clearer by hoyles in 12 ft of water than it was 12.9 miles east of there in the same depth of water where I got all my walleyes for the tournament I could not see more than 2 ft in the water and by hoyles I could see more than 3 ft in to the water and didn't get nothing but drum fish and big perch there.I guess that's fishing.

The big blows we have been getting for over a week will have the walleye scattered. Maybe by the weekend things will settle down.:)
Walleye Express, what water temps were you getting?? I have to bet that the water rolled over and we are back to 40s for temps.:fish:

You would think that, but we had surface temps ranging from 53 by the can to 55 near the island and every place we sat down yesterday out of AuGres. We did see a few guys running cranks for Browns in close near the point yesterday, but never seen a net come out on any of the other boats we could see. If you think about it, we have not had sustained winds from the same direction for more than a couple of days. The Bay is more "Shook Up" than it is turned over.

I heard last year or the year before they decided that all cuts are now private property. Oh yea thats what they think. As soon as they see a bass boat they go haywire. I havent fished the bay yet this season but I will be fishing it hardcore real soon,:one_eye: Preparing for the top bass opening day.

If those cuts are connected to public waterways and are navigatble, they can't do a thing to you if you stay off the land and fish. Where could you fish on any river if they did that? They just settled the law a couple years ago about walking on the beach in front of shore owners properties. Owning exclusive property does not intitle anybody to keep people off public water or shoreways connected to main bodies of water.

If you want bass (atleast smallies) try going up to tip of thumb (port Austing around and down to H.B) anywhere along that side is good and rocky with alot of smallies. I've heard its really good at lighthouse park, but haven't fished there yet. You might try sending a pm to Jeremy L. he's from that area of thumb.
