My son and I fished out of Wyndotte Sat morning, not many boats for a saturday, weather kept it pretty empty.
We ended up with 5 nice walleye (17-22 inchers), 5 14 inchers (returned) and a ton of white bass. My son (11) had a BLAST. All but 2 of the fish were caught on spoons.
On another note.... When the operation changed at the wyndotte boat ramp earlier this spring people were pretty vocal about the new guys. I liked Steve and Kathy and didn't know the new guys and was hoping the change wasn't going to be as bad as some made it out. I have used the WBR about 10 times this spring and have got to say the new guys running it have been great as far as I'm concerned. No complaints. If you've been reluctant you may want to give them a try and see how it goes you may be happy.
Similar results for us Saturday. Picked up 6 keepers and had 3 shorts along with a handfull of silver Bass and Smallies jig fishing the Mud Island channel from 8:00 to 1:00 pm.

I have also used the ramp a few times this spring. The new management is just as friendly as the old. I have a problem with my bowmount hanging up when un-loading and loading the boat on to the trailer. The ramp is to steep. I have the same problem at the ramp in Augres at North Port. I have learned the hard way to remove the bowmount before launching at a new ramp. How is the Ecourse ramp?

The new guys are the same owners of the Dip net I think..have seen them there and now at the WBR...they seem to be great to tell you where and what..and really nice southern fellows...:fish:

Been out of there about a dozen times, and no trouble. Last night we put in the new boat, didn't even charge us. Perfect night to try out a new boat, no one going in or out for us to get in the way. Once we got her going the boat ran like a champ. Had battery problems with the bow mount, but everything else ran fine. Even had a pretty good rip on a bottom bouncer, not sure what it was, but slammed a #5 clown rap, then was gone.
Special thanks to Michihunter who joined my crew and helped keep the boys under control while I fiddled with things. Next time, we will be out to catch fish.
