Rifle River Rec Area

Has anyone had any luck fishing the Rifle River Rec area? I'm going up camping next weekend. I know the DNR stocks Gousehaven and Devoe lakes, has anybody had luck on these lakes or should I concentrate on the creeks and river? I'll have my canoe and portable fishfinder. I'll give a report next week when I get back.

I was there last monday before the rain and the water was very clear, and there were lots of trout visible along with suckers. I got a few 15"+ browns using worms in the deeper holes. good luck:)

Nice area up there. The river can be pretty good at times. With the rain lately the river might be high & roily making for tough fishing

I Have Fished Dofoe Lake Up There At Night With A Lattern And Corn. Caught Some Nice Rainbows. We Had A Lot Of Fun Up There In The Dark With Those Fish. Good Luck!

Well just got back from the camping trip with my wife and boys, and my two cousins and their families. All together there were 6 boys. Three of them are two years old, the other two are 6 and 7. So I didn't get to fish the trout lakes, however my two year old caught a sucker out of one of the creeks. We ended up taking all the boys to a fishing dock on one of the many lakes in the rec area where they all had a ball catching blue gill. One of my cousins did manage to get a line in the water for a few minutes and landed a nice bass. All in all had a great time. May be next time will hit the trout.
