Has anyone made it out to the Cross dyke for some pike fishing. I'm think about heading down there and giving it a try. We did very well about this time last year. Just wanted to find out if any one knew anything.

Yeah, my bro has been fishing there, getting pike pretty good. About a month ago he really nailed em, and good size, most were around 30. Since then, size has dropped, but the numbers are still there.

I want to try fishing down there, last time we tried to find it we hit some **** trying to lauch out of erie metro and broke the shear pin, it took an hour to troll back in againced the wind. this was in march btw. we gave up after that.,, so first off how do you get there? is it out of erie, go past the island and turn left ( north i think?)
second how are you baiting them. how do you target pike in the river for that matter.

Go wide around Celeron or else you'll be replacing another shear pin. Then go left towards the Crossdyke. I used to just troll #13 Raps or Bomber LongA's, with something with orange in it, beng the best. I would pinch a split shot a few feet up the line to catch the floating weeds. Look for the emerging weedbeds on the graph to troll over. Check a map, the International boundry runs right through it at an angle and our Canadian cousins could always get bug up their rear at any moment and play hardass. If you get too close to the Livingstone channel wall, your in Canada.

I was perch fishing a couple of weeks ago and got about 10 mostly jacks but 2 that went 2 or 3 lbs and 2 that broke my line so who knows. I would come in from North of Sugar Island through the Sugar Island cut and hand a left at the cross dike and go about 75 yards there is a hole about 10 feet deep but be careful you do not go to far or you will be in Canadian waters. Good luck and let us know if anyone is catching perch, ok?

Reef Runner "RipSticks" anything bright colored (Pink Lemonade-Pink Trailer Trash-Gold Watermelon-Hot Tamale-Tequila Sunrise) fished 18-25' back...pike colored Bomber Long A's also work good this year for us...Troll em faster now - 2.6-ish MPH works for us
Like CTT said - Good sized fish early, size has dropped, but numbers are still there...Find the 10 Foot flats on the middle of the dyke and work those area...

Has anyone heard of the latest perch line in this area including the hole in the wall. Thinking of going this weekend. Thanks. Bruce

South of the dyke works best for us...but we have picked up a few pike on the north side.
Bruce - have not heard of any perch reports as of lately...The jacks are pretty thick and hungry and most are handlining or jigging with worms to snag them up.

I've picked up a few hammer handles there in the past. Does anyone hook into any smallies in that area? I thought I had heard it can be productive.

You can get into a few good smallies there...jig and tubes in the rocks...also produces some pike as well...three ways with shiners works well also
