Here's a pic of a fawn from last week. Now this was taken with a leaf river IR.

Wow she is still not that big. Most fawns from last years around me are a lot bigger. She looks like she is ok though. I dont think she is pregnant.

I don't think that's last years fawn, to little. I think the IR pic dosen't show the spots.

Honestinjun!? you think that that may be this years' fawn?

It's your photo and you know the when & the how ......but, if that's this year's fawn you can butter my butt and call me a biscuit.

I'd be pretty skeptical that that photo is of a fawn that ---on May 1st ---could only be days old. Even May 1st is very early for a fawn drop....not sayin' it doesn't happen...but it would be very early.

Too, the deer tho seemingly quite small still looks to be too mature to be a newly dropped fawn.

Just my opinion.

But whadda I know?

Been seeing "NEW, this years" fawns for the past 2 weeks around this area.
Yesterday coming back from Fremont see a doe with a set of twins and another doe a ways down the road with a single fawn. All had spots and were this years deer.

I think that it is last years fawn as well. It is still early for fawns this year and the ones that have been born are going to still be vary small. Under 20 lbs. Kind of an odd sized deer for this time of year. Is this a southern Michigan deer? It could be a fawn that was a late born last year like in late July due to late breeding and was able to make it through the winter. It does look kind of stressed, but I think it will be ok.

I'm going to put my other camera out there with a flash and see if it will catch it again. I think there's spots on that deer, but with the IR it's not showing up. Knowing the area, I would really be surprised if that was last years deer. Didn't see asnything that small all winter. Doesn't mean there wasn't one!!!
