Fished out of Holland Sat May 6 in the AM. Went 7/8- 3 Kings and 4 coho. All came on White spoons. 6 of the 8 came on Pro King Mags(4 on the solid white with the eye) one coho on an old northport nailer white with a blue stripe and one on a Green Dolphin Mag. 5 of the 8 on half core, 1 on a 3 color core and the other 2 on the riggers set at about 35-40ft. We fished in 90-120 ft. Fish seemed very scattered. Anyway it was a good first trip out weather was cool but the sun was nice.

Sounds like good fishing. What size are we talking? I'm moving out very soon from Oregon. We sat in a hog-line in the river for 4 hours and banged a beautiful 15 lb springer (chinook) but that was it and we were lucky. Probably saw only 10 or 12 fish caught the whole time for 100 boats. When the ocean salmon season is on, you can nail them pretty good but it can be a very short season (and almost always rough seas).
Also, how is the meat on salmon from the Great Lakes? Is it pretty red when they are chrome? or do they tend to be light in color?
