You can't make them catch fish.

Got my limit early today but the guy I had with me finally got his at 9:45am. In past fishing trips I would outfish him 5,6,7 to 1. Everytime!!!! He uses the same color and bait. He's about ready to give up. Its not just this year it's the past 4-5 years.

Mike The Elder---maybe he stinks eh? Should wear gloves?

Stats for the day--mainly 40 FOW, clarity is about 6-8 ft, water temp 47*. I used a unpainted jig with a smelt Gulp minnow. Threw back a 27-29"er. Wieghed 5 lb. 11 oz. Also caught a 6ft tree branch, Beagle 1 was a witness to that. Also had something on that fought real good and had a weird pull to it. Lost it on the way up. Was definately was not a walleye. Thinking maybe salmon or steelhead or something.

Mike I can really relate to what you are saying, I took my buddy shopping and made him get identical rods reels line and everything else. He still can't catch fish the way he should. His main problem seems to be just a total lack of concentration. He can tell you what every other boat around is doing but he doesn't have a clue what is happening in my boat. Nice seeing you on the water again. P.S. I wish all the guys that I fish with were as good as my son.

not being an a-hole but, do you guys help out the people you are fishing with? give them pointers or tell them what they might be doing wrong? i mean, i have people that i fish with that talk alot of trash & i love nothing better than just smoking them on the water, but if some guys are gonna quit cause they suck, maybe they need help.

like i said, none of my business
then again, some people just flat out can't jig!! & may never get it.

Barry's got a point there......
I've been on both sides of the fence here - when you're "in the zone" ya just can't do anything wrong - but when "charlie brown" is in town.... well - - you know.

Did you try to help him or just laugh & discourage the guy?

Unless it's my best friend - I always try to help... for me it's not just the kill , it's the thrill of the chase.

Now if it's my best friend - well he's sm0ked me so many d@mn before times I step on the back of his neck when I get the chance!! He'll be 'getting me back' before you know it !

Barry, this guy is not a paying customer. Well once in a while he'll chip in for gas. Just a friend of mine(and co-worker) who fishes with me all the time. He can fend for himself. Right now after 4 years of jigging he is resigned to the fact that he sucks jigging.

Customers I would definantly help out, no question.

Last time I got stuck in the middle of us 3 fishing and spent more time netting than fishing. And then of course they brag about how much better they did than me!
If you can't out-fish your buddy and let him know about it all week, why go?;)
