Hammered em good this morning, pulling spoons in the cow pasture, must have been 100 boats in there handlining, man, what a zoo, was a lot of work trying to pull in fish, and avoid everyone, saw plenty of crossed lines and short tempers:rant: Caught some big females finnaly, saw some other big fish caught by others. Also heard they did excellent down by the Belle Isle bridge. Dont sit there reading this ................GO FISHING!

Got a quick limit at the Belle Isle Bridge myself this morning.
Walleye fishing this year is phenominal!! I'm worried I'm going to get spoiled by catching a llimit on every trip this year!!!

Get 'em while its hot!

I hammered the smallies at the cow pasture this am. Bupkis on the walleyes
handlining. Has been a phenominally bad year for me so far. If this is the best, I hate to see the worst. Think all those boats shut the fishing down.
Can't wait for the lake to begin.

As usual I got started late and was not on the water until 8 AM. Started at the Belle Isle Bridge jigging rubber worms with stinger (made in the fashion taught by others on this site - and has worked well for a couple of weeks). I saw a lot of people not catching much and moving around a lot on the American side. After a couple of hours of no bites, I tried hand lining and again got nothing. Finally around 10:30, when I got down to just above the Ren Center I had my first strike jigging. Got 3 nice ones in the boat including a 4.5 pounder in a half hour and then they stopped (all on the stinger hook). Finally around noon I switched over to handing spoons again and got the last 2 in 10 minutes. By the time I had my limit, there were hardly any other boats out, so either most did really well or gave up. At the ramp the handliners universally seemed to do much better today.

Big Laker, sorry to hear you did well on the smallies, the eyes were there, for me anyway it seems to be a very good early bite, I mean in the water fishing at sunrise, also the seem to be very color picky, it will get better and you will catch fish on anything you drop down there, but right now, very picky is the word, I caught all my fish on what I call a watermelon, it has pearl white, chartruse, and pink, with some silver glitter, everything came on that, nothing on anything else, they also all hit the bottom kicker only. Dont get to dissapointed its been a tough spring for handlining, and now the smallies and silver bass are moving in. Hang in there you will be flipping them in the boat soon.;)
