Fished this evening with my Wife Beverly, Uncle Rick, and TroutTracker.
We fished from around 6pm till darkish. Went 1 for 2.
First fish and only one landed was a spunky spring king probably around that 10lb area. It hit a rigger down 30 feet over 65 feet of water. Blueberry Muffin.
THe second hit was also on a rigger but we are not sure if it was a slider bite or a main line bite. There was one of the new moonshines on teh bottom...looks like a bloody nose sort of with red speckles. and the slider was a stinger spoon that had purple on both ends with metallic yellow in the middle and black dots. that rigger was down 35 over 50 foot of water.
We couldn't really get them going. Didn't hear much from the rest of the boats out there...it was not that busy...I think the wind scared a lot of people away...but the lake was very very fishable.

Thanks for the report. I'm heading to GR this evening and will head out of Port Sheldon Saturday morning and hit the lake again in the evening. Having serious withdrawl issues as the boat has his the water once. Best of luck to the members that will be fishing Port Sheldon Saturday.

The messed up weather patterns I think have the fish scattered.
If we get a couple consistant weather days before Sunday I think it should be some great fishing.

thanks for the report... it really helps me out... I've been giving my reports also.... I think I'll be fishing the pier heads tonight for walleye... It gets crowded quick but its fun and I actually have caught walleye after dark on a husky jerk fire tiger... I also heard husky jerk blue and silver work and husky jerk purple and silver work...I didn't see those at the store though....
I'll be out around 6pm till 10 or 11 at night... if the waves are small...

We couldn't really get them going.
That's too bad, Jimmy. You should have taken out the "secret weapon" from San Francisco that I know is tucked away in the recesses of your tackle-mate. Aghhrr, matey, methinks you could have at least caught a bottom-feeder. :p
Dare you to show it here. The lure, I mean. :D

Glad to see you made it in with the prop in working order;) . I went out of muskegon thursday night and went 3 for 9:rant: . Fish we scattered until the last half hour of day light and I finally marked some decent pods of bait. A buddy of mine went back out last night and couldnt get a release fishing the same areas:confused: . Got to love the spring kings. Nomadic little rascals aren't they. May hit P.S. tonight.

Yes they are. These consistantly unstable weather patterns do NOT help us.
We get a hard SW for three days and the fishing is good, then it does an about face and blows HARD NW the day I want to go fishing blowing all the water crazy and messing with the currents....
The west winds will keep the warm water up tight. But I didn't really see the bait or fish relating to the "WARM" water. we marked more fish outside the warm water....
I think the big thing is Bob is there is NO thermocline yet and probably wont' be for a while yet.
By Sunday we may be in the typical May pattern. 180 foot of water top 50 foot is loaded with fish.
The boat ran beautifully incase you were wondering. I'm not too worried about the prop that is on there now...It is brand new...the rubber better still be good in it...haha...besides this new prop is the same pitch but smaller diameter...has WAY less power out of the gate...But I think it helps me control my trolling speed a little better. I carn run higher RPM's at a troll than with the other prop, (which has been rebuilt and in the garage).
SO I can sacrafice some top end speed for a better troll....Of course now you can probably catch me...hehe...
Also Bob I still have your goody bag thingy....in the garage..I'll try and remmeber to toss it in the truck and give it to you on Sunday.

I agree, the best is yet to come. There are a lot of fish out there already though. Glad to hear the boat ran well and you had a good time. I like to get these shakedowns done not too far offshore, with a west wind. Now that we've done that, and we know our boats still run, we can chase the fish out to 180 if we have to;). Thanks for the report.
Ken, I don't know what the "secret weapon" is in the bottom of Six's tackle-mate, but I had planned to fish with him soon and you're scaring me:yikes:
