there has been multiple complaints called in to the dnr requesting that the launch be opened. i talked to the dnr biologist when he was there taking samples and he told me that the amount of silt that blew in over the winter made the bay extremly shallow. i then watched him walk 15' into the water and hardly cover his boot with water/muck. he told me that he didnt know if their budget would be able to afford the amount of work that needs to be done. here is the number for the DNR south river road station. Call and leave a message telling them that you want it opened like the rest of us. hopefully if they get enough phone calls we can make something happen. tell your friends to call as well.

I was under the impression that dredging is underway. Read the link below.

There was a post in, I think, the free press saying that it'd be closed for at least a month if I remember correctly. (which is unlikly :) )

Tried yesterday...400 Club, Beacon Cove and Metro. No walleye a few smallies. I heard of a guy that picked up a few in real tight 4 fow in front of the beach. I think it's still a week or two away, but still nice to be out there.

Fished this area Friday afternoon. We caught many small perch, and even smaller large mouth bass. Tried from 6 feet to eleven feet deep. Water temp was about 63 with no weed growth yet. Should start up any day in there.

No not asking to much . I was drifting perch rigs and a crawler on a hook with a sinker. When I hit a few perch, I threw anchor. bummer is, this only accounted for 2 or 3 perch and I would have to move. The perch were in 14to 15 fow. So it should be close to time. Most were males- so take it for what its worth. While drifting every time I hit old weeds I would hit perch.( I )hink they are starting on young snails? I'm surprised they were this deep this early.

As far a the walleye I only spoke to my buddy briefly . He normally starts real close in and works his way out. I'm talking 6 foot out. I wish I could give you more on that but I'm still attempting to make my way out that way.
