New tournament out of Sanilac this year. Sounds like a real good one.
$100 entry fee and a lot of cash and prises.

Clay from the bait shop has done a great job getting it all set up and the local bussinesses have all been very generous.

He had about 25 boats the last I checked. Give him a call for more details. 810-622-8776.

The lil' tanker will definately be fishing it. Maybe we can win a little beer and gas money for the blue water classic the weekend after.

Some questions:

1) Do you have to fish out of Port Sanilac (our boat is in HB)?

2) One day or two day tourney?

Sounds like fun.

I will have to call and get the flier.... I know I can't fish Sunday.

I may be up to some sort of case of beer side bet action...

Flyer I got from him last week indicated it was a 2 day tourney.

He also mentioned the wives doing some cooking while the men were out fishing, and having that all together and ready for after the weigh in.

That's where my better half lost it at.... Needless to say, I'll probably not be attending....lol....

In answer to fishing out of PS, when I asked him (Clay) if there were boundries, he said there were not.

Not a lot of rules themselves on the flyer.

Anyone interested I could fax the flyer tomorrow morning.
Send me a PM w/ the fax # you want to recv it at.

We have been up there fishing 3 of the last 4 weekends. Stopped into Clay's last Friday night & picked up a flyer - sign up form.

Would like to fish, but the 2 day (Sunday is Mother's Day) kind of puts a crimp on things.....

Would have been great if it were a one day (Saturday) Tournament.......

Going to be up to fish anyway on Saturday........

I have to check my flyer again tonight, but someone said that weigh in was not until 6 p.m.

That makes for 2 really long days on the water. I doubt if I will stay out that whole time. I wonder how they are going to check fish and if you are aloud to come in for lunch and then fish in the afternoon for a while before weigh in??

6 O'clock weigh in with no boundries......

That could make for a very interesting tournement. Any word on the prize structure?

One of my crew members just lost his grandpa so now I am a man short for this tournament. I talked to Clay and he thinks first place will take home around $1000. I heard he has between 15-20 boats right now. It is a family tournament and is self regulated. They are encouraging youth and have a lot of stuff to give away. You are aloud to come in and out as often as possible.
We are looking at fishing until around 11 and coming in for lunch and a nap and then going out in the afternoon for a while and then coming to weigh in at 6.. Any time there is money involved things can get hectic but most everyone are locals and we all fish together. I am sure there wil be wrinkles but it is there first year. Hope to see you all there.

Captains meeting is at bark shanty at 6 p.m.
$100 entry fee, sign up at captains meeting
Sat weigh in is 6, Sunday weigh in is 2

Wish I could have fished it, the suspense is killing me. Who won and what was the weight? Lots of silver I hope.

What could you weigh each day?

You could weigh 9 fish both days.

We weighed 8 on Sat. and 9 on Sunday.
Our fish on Sat. were to small, we only had around 30 pounds, Sunday we had a bigger catch of 55 pounds for our two day total of 86 something.

We ended up 4th out of 9 boats. It was fun but a little unorganized.

Great catches brought in both days. A few nice kings in the mix. The leader on Sat. came in with 68 pounds and a few boats were in the 50's. Sunday was a little slower for most guys. We made a good run but just did not have enough on Sat. to get to where we needed to be.

The winning boat ended up with 108 pounds and 2nd and 3rd were in the 90's.

I will try to get more details and post them.

Bring on the classic.
