You have to wait until the temps hit in the 70's for the common West Michigan splittailous Homo Erectus to show signs of movement on the beaches. Summer time is the prime season for splittail watching, with school out and nothing to do, they tend to flock together on the warm sands in small groups to frolic in the water and bask in the sun, reading books while wearing skimpy strips of fabric, held together by tiny strings. Once in a while you will see some of them participating in a game of hitting a ball over a net, they call it "volley ball" The season is usually from June until September and is a sight to behold for sure. But watcher beware, once in a while you will come across some rather rotund members of that genus, but fear not, because you have the power to position the camera to another spot. Also note that the Splittailous Homo Erectus does not tend to show up on dark overcast or rainy days. But once again, fear not be beacuse you can reveiew some of the still shots from the days before.
