Well, I did have one major issue today... snapped off my brand new, only caught one fish on it so far St. Croix rod!! On a snag no less. Didn't even yank that hard. I've yanked harder setting the hook on my $25 Gander Mountian rods without breaking them. Guess I'll be sending it back to St. Croix.

But, Booktens and I fished for about 4 hours... maybe 5?? We got into some pike... ranging in size from a 14" hammer handle up to a pretty respectable 29"... totaled maybe 15-18 pike. I also managed to get a nice fat 18-19" smallie, a 13" smallie, and lost 2 others that were of good size. Caught one 13" largemouth on my St. Croix before it broke (did I mention it was the first and only fish caught on that rod??). All told we probably boated 20 fish... maybe a few more. Not too shabby! Most fish came on Gold or Tennesee Shiner 14 Huskey Jerks. I got the greenie on a senko though!!! LOL!!!

I'll let Steve post the pics since I can't find the charger cord to my camera... and the battery is dead!!

So, I'll have to conceed... for now. Croton does not suck. If it had choked up an eye or two it would have been better... bit over all it didn't suck!

Thanks for going along Mike. It was a great day to be on the water... even if that high dollar rod couldn't handle it. Too bad we couldn't have hooked some of the followers. But of course the ones that get away are allways big.

Nothing wrong with a redneck farmers tan. I sport one all year myself. If you don't sport one how are people suppose to know you are fishing person.:) Consider it as a fishing persons fashion statement. Nice fishes from Croton. I love fishing there.

Do you wear a bikini to get yourself them attractive redneck tan lines??
LMAO!!
From the looks of that house , it kinda looks like you guys were up the big pond a ways (up the creek , as they say!)...
Do I dare ask (publicly) what depth of water you guys were getting results in??
I'd suspect the 8-14 FOW zone myself , but I'm not expert.... I still gotta work on my redneck tan!!
Good job guys.
:)

Nice fish Mike, now I'm going to have to invite you out again to go there so you can teach me the Michigan way to catch pike and smallies. I fished that area last year, but had no idea of the lay of the land. Wound up with a few panfish and a big sucker.

Most of our fish came from the small pond.... including the smallie.

Was back on Croton Friday... 3 pike, two largemouth, and my friend got one pike and a nice smalle. All fish from the big pond this time.

You have a problem with me saying I caught fish at Croton, small pond? It's still a pretty big body of water... relax. And for the record, I dont' have a problem telling people where I'm catching fish, as long as I'm not in a tournament.

Now trout holes and spots, those I keep to myself.

No problems, just find it funny that one week it sux, the next it's the best thing since sliced bread. See you there sometime.

waterfoul

Normally, when I say it sux, I'm talking more tongue-in-cheek. I catch fish no matter where I fish... just some lakes yeild more than others more consistantly.

And Robert... go to the river, any river, find a log, loose 2 hooks, then catch a fish. There, now you know my favorite river holes.
