I under stand the rig. How do you fish it, over the side of boat, cast it out and work it back.

I've used it in an area with a very small current under a bobber (set the bobber so it can move around a little above the surface). Works great for gills with a teardrop and worm. Also jigging off of the side of a boat works great too.

Usually, if I'm in deeper water(over 15 feet) I fish it right over the side of the boat, maybe I will cast it out 10-15 feet or so. This is mainly so I have complete feel over the bait. I've used a drop shot in less than 5 fow and as long as you work it slow enough you could cast it out a mile. Just make sure you keep tension on your line so you can feel the sinker on the bottom. Don't forget to work the bait with your rod tip and not your reel.

Fishindude's got it. The purpose of a dropshot is to fish a soft plastic in the most natural way possible: with no weight. The sinker on the end is just for getting it out there. You have to maintain feel with the tip of your rod. Twang the line like you are working a weightless jerkbait.

Using your favorite web page search engine do a search on the phrase "dropshot fishing" and start reading and looking at the pictures. Many of the web sites will show a basic set-up or rigging.

They smarted up a little but they need to remove the bass season entirely. Should be catch and release all year round.
