Going out Whipping in Algonac Tuesday night. Will be my first time Whipping. Any pointers on what to do / what not to do, etc. How far away are you supposed to anchor from other boats, etc.
Thanks Guys.

I went last saturday for the 2nd time. We pretty much stayed away from the corwd. My buddy was realing in a fish and some boat cruising by saw him. They pulled up and anchored right behind us on top of our lines. Our lines were 180ft out. I was about to go over and kick someones *****. I couldnt belive the audasity of these people. Thankfully they only stayed 20 minutes. I would say dont cruise up behind anyone.

Far enough away not to tangle up with someone else's line or anchor rope. But if you do happen to get caught in someone's anchor rope, make sure that you tell them!!! Friday night we saw a guy hook into another guy's anchor and never told him. I know that I wouldn't appreciate getting a handful of lures while pulling it up.:yikes:

well doesn't look like the weather's going to cooperate. raining here in troy, just called my sister in new baltimore she says its drizzling there. unless something changes here in the next few hours the boat will be staying in the driveway.:sad::mad:

I always get bummed out when I can't go due to the weather. There's only so many times I can get out to go whipping and I hate to miss any nights. I'll be out there on Friday as long as it's not too nasty.

First time out last night and not one but two boats through their anchors out onto my line. 180 feet back eh?
Shoot- I would have been lucky to get out 100 feet....so begins another year of whippin..........

what do you do in that situation? pull your lines and leave or only let a little line out??

Just pray some morons dont anchor right in back of you after you showed up 2 hours before dark. Because your in "their" spot. It happens a lot. Avoid weekends if possible. Thats why I dont do much of that anymore And I live right here in St.clair! Good luck.

Those 2oz. sinkers that you asked about in the other thread have multiple uses. :D

A few weeks back, we were perch fishing in the river, same deal everyone anchored pretty close and always hooking anchor lines. Anyway, I watch this guy hook his anchor and he obviously didn't wanna loose his rig, so he's hand over fistin' his line back to the boat and bringing in a lil' anchor line with him. Well he gets the anchor up in his boat, unhooks his rig, starts up his boat and proceeds to bring in the rest of "his" anchor line. As he's pullin', he looks up and see's its NOT his anchor. Truly hysterical,, I bust out laughin', so does he and gives me the shhhhhhh, don't tell them(because the other boat didn't know) and heaves their anchor over the side of his boat. I said,, I'll bet you've never done that before,, he laughs and says,, NO WAY. I always wondered if that was anyone from this site,, the side of the boat said,, "GOTCHA II" or something.
