Well we had another good day (a little bumpy) out on the water for the St. Joe League event on the 29th of April. We had 10 boats participate this weekend and the standing was:

1st place: 4 fish weighed, 29lbs 14oz, total = 69.875 points – Running Arends (Steve Arend)
2nd place: 3 fish weighed, 37lbs 4oz, total = 67.25 points - Fistful of Dollars (Tom – Did I get the boat name right?)
3rd place: 3 fish weighed, 26lbs 12oz, total = 56.75 points – Adjusted (Mark)
4th place: 3 fish weighed, 21lbs 9oz, total = 51.563 points – KDS08 (Still no boat name.)
5th place: 3 fish weighed, 19lbs 2oz, total = 49.125 points – Tauzigg (Gary)
6th place: 3 fish weighed, 16lbs 3oz, total = 46.188 points – BDWalk (Brett)
7th place: 3 fish weighed, 7lbs 14oz, total = 37.875 points - leprechaun II (The other Ben)
8th place: 1 fish weighed, 4lbs 11oz, total = 14.688 points – Midway (Wayne)
9th place: Fish-On and Danger Dan with no fish to weigh.

Big fish went to Tom (Fistful of Dollars?) with a 13lb 3oz King.

Small fish went to Tauzigg (Gary) with a 5oz King.

Thanks everyone it was a good time.

It was a little bumpy out there around 100ft for the morning run. We made it out to a way point that I had from the last couple of days out in 125 fow. We set lines and trolled out to 160 and made a fip and started trolling back in. By this time our first 4 fish were a (1) laker, (1) Coho, (2) kings and tossed a Laker back. Just after hitting our way point we boxed another King. We kept on a east troll and hit 120 fow and end up boxing 5 more kings in a short span of time. We were boxed out on Kings by 10:15am. We end up 12 for 16 with the Mag. Chicken poxs on riggers, Mag Flounder Pounder on full core, Mag copper/orange glow on full core and cut rigs on wire dipsies were hot.

You got it right Steve, Fistful of Dollars.

After no fish or hits at 10am our crew was beginning to wonder if we were going to come in with an empty box. That's when we put down a cut-bait rig (green SD with green twinkie 165 back on a wire dipsy) and our luck took a 180. In the next 1.5 hours we went 10 for 17? 8 of those hits came on the forementioned cut-bait rig the rest were on other bait rigs as well as chicken pox and jamacian sunrise. We worked 100 -110 fow, wire dipsys 165 to 180 ft back (set on 2) and riggers 60 - 95 down. Most of the fish were in the 10 - 13 lbs range except for one 7 oz brute that slammed a mag green dolphin...I thought we had smallest fish wrapped up! Good job on the 5 ouncer guys.

Good job guys, sounds like a good tourney. Glad no one got washed over board, when I felt that wind in the morning all I could think of was the Bon Jovi theam song from "The Deadliest Catch".... . I'm sure it wasn't that bad out there though !

Yeah, real proud of that 5 oz'er!! :D Hit a mag modified purple dolphin off a rigger, the spoon was almost as big as the fish, he must have eaten his Wheaties that morning!! Had a great time, thanks to the Fishdog guys and gals for another great outing. All our fish came between 110 and 120 fow. Ended the day going 12 for 13, with 9 kings and 3 lakers. The one we lost was a real screamer first thing in the morning off of a dipsy 185 back set on 1 with a mag blue dolphin. Just couldn't find any other species to fill our limit...

Great time, thanks again!

Had a good time at the afters watching the more fortunate weigh thier catch. Unfortunately good fate was on the other boats that morning as right off the bat I got the dredded tangles plus some loosing 5 rigs. After re-rigging and setting down the wire dipsies the crew got skeered. The kids were in the cabin howlin like they were on fire everytime one came over the bow, clinging to the shelving like the pilgrims on the Mayflower.
Not a good day for the faint at heart!
We pulled lines by 7:30 or so and decided to call it a day.

Thanks Steve for letting me crew for ya! I would have HATED to be out there by myself in my boat...or for you to only have 2 guys in yours! It was a handful around 10am with 4 kings within 20 mins of eachother...and most all hits were double headers! Hopefully the winnings pay for the rod/reel/line/lure...I'll let Steve fill y'all in on that one! But it has something to do with 5 ft waves, 20+ mph head winds, full throttle, and bow in the air...!!! If I can post a pict on this board I will of our take for the day...the top 4 fish is what we weighed in for the tourney, the rest rounded out our 3 man limit of kings.

We had a great time doing the tourney! Steve and his wifes hospitality is second to none.:) Hopefully we get a chance to hang out and chat next time, but we had some stuff to do and some people waiting for us. We only went 4 for 5 but not bad for our first trip of the year with no idea where to even start. I wish we would have got into the 15 for 20 situations, but it just didn't happen. I'm sure you guys will see more of us on the water now that the boat is in. Can't wait till the next one!

Thanks Steve and Mark. A great time as always. Couldnt get my crew to brave the deeper waters, so our catch was not the greatest. But we had fun. We took enough water over the bow to keep the bilge pump working most of the morning.. The food was great. Thanks to the women who put on the wonderful spread and thanks to Connie for putting up with us again in the house. Cant wait for the next League event.
As always , nice to see some familar faces and a few new ones. Always nice to be able to to see whos who.

another great event.the food was outstanding.thank-you.that apple betty was worth the 25 entery fee.way to good.motor problems kept us pegged to the pier.guess i should have changed plugs.boat ran fine after getting in close and running around the pier at 40mph to clean out the pipes.still kept it in close with the gale force east winds.if i had to get towed it was gonna be from the pier not 100 ft.boy that would have been a ride :yikes: .had 5 fish on but let them go at the back of the boat.so ended up 0 for 5.havent done that in a few years or weeks:lol:  .guess it wasnt a day for the slickcrafts :dizzy: looking forward to the next event.mark, steve, you guys got my vote.i took a few waves over the bow in 80ft in a 24fter.100 foot was probaly alot worse in a open boat.:yikes: thanks again for the great event and food.

Amazingly, we didn't take ANY waves over the bow in Steve's boat out in 150 fow. Now, I'm not saying anything about the motor being 3/4 under water and my rear end getting soaked from the surge behind the boat!?!?!?!? BUT, it did seem to be less rough in 150 than in 100...or maybe it was the fact that when we finally made it back to 100 that the wind had kicked up enough to make it seem worse.

The toughest part of our day, in my opinion, was the trek back into the waves and into the wind...that combination darn near did us in! :yikes:

Yes Danger, the WAS apple betty!!!! MMMM mMMMM good!!!!!!!!!!
