Am heading up the the Tawas area this weekend and was wondering if there is anything going on up there. With the cost of fuel I don't want to pull the boat if nothing is happening. Cost me $103.00 to fill the F350 up yesterday. :tdo12:

Pretty slow last weekend. The suckers are done in Omer too.

Tawas is crap city right now. If you are heading up that way, either stop off in Au Gres for walleyes or hit Bay City for walleyes. If you are looking for browns/silver fish, go west or one of the thumb ports.

I heard they are getting good browns at Alpena though.

There have been a couple browns caught in alpena... nothing hot and heavy... If it were me I would not sped 100+ in gas, they fish seem to be few and far between. Walleye fishing is starting to pick up near the harbor and near the mouth of the river, if if oyur after walleye i would still think BC would be a better bet and its also closer.

That Freeland walleye tournament is this weekend. There will be a million boats on the rivers and the bay. FYI

The Freeland Walleye fest entries are way down these days. We fished the bay last year during the tourney and it's not bad at all.
They are really getting the walleyes out off the State Park the last few days.
I'm not fishing the festival this year, I'm going for silvers.
