I've owned several quads any where from 200cc to my newest a 350cc. the biggest thing I would be concernd with pulling an ice shanty would be traction. other than that a 200cc can pull a lot. I use my 350cc every day on my farm and what it can pull is amazing. Ive weighed a trailer full of fire wood and it weighed 1500lbs I could have pulled more but thats already over what the manufacture recomends. I would buy the biggest quad I could afford.

bhntr, When pulling on the ice would you prefer chains or studs for better traction.

I would prefer chains because you could take them off in the spring. but I beleive that studs would give you more traction . its just the extra expence of having an extra set of tires if you want to use your 4-wheeler in the summer. bhntr

u could get the new kawie650 v-twin prarie. i think it has 45hp. Or u could wait a month or two and get the new polaris sportsman 700 inline twin(same weight as the 500) it will be about 50hp and tons of torque.

both thoes machines should easily pull your shanty.
