My 1994 1890 Pro V Gary Roach Lund is Broke, I guess that fishing Lake Erie most of the time is too much for it. A bulkhead in front of the gas tank has broken and I need to get it fixed hopefuly before spring. I love this boat and when It's hurt, I hurt. It should still be coverd under some degree of warrenty. Can anyone suggest the best Dealership for service, or must I take it where I got it.

Try 60 Lakes Marine, they are a big Lund dealer. They have locations in Harrison Twp. (Mt. Clemens area) and downriver. Good Luck!

I talked to the people at the Trenton store and they are no longer a Lund dealer "persay" they are going to sell used boats and be service and engine repair. But I would still give them a call and find out if they can help you out. Other wise there's high dollar Chappman's.

*****DO NOT TAKE IT TO SIXTY LAKES!!!!!!!**********************

I bought my Lund there. I was having motor problems. They had it for 2 months, made all kind of promises, it got filthy in there yard. After the last promise was broken, I went truly ****NUTS***** I lost it!!!!!!!! They supposedly fixed my boat, charge me 130.00 bucks. I drive it 275 miles north, and it's not right. Plus my license plate was broken off. I take it to a place up north, and all that was wrong was the advance spring was broken. You could see it was broken after it was pointed out to me. They had promised me 2 weeks at the outset. THEY SUCK!!!!!

There's a new Lund dealer up in Anchor Bay but I don't know if
they're set up to deal with older models yet.
Don't be afraid to go to Chapmans-----you may pay a little more but you get what you pay for!!!!!!!!

I didn't mean to knock chappman's, I would take my rig there for service, but be ready for the large bill. I also agree with walleyechaser, you do get what you pay for. Has anyone heard of a new Lund dealer in Erie, Mi. called Bay Harbor? I ordered a sport dodger top for my 2025le from them, found them on the net in a dealer search. The managers name is Steve and they are supposedly getting a shippment of new boats on Feb. 8

 Another thing about 60 lakes, I bought my rig from them Feb 2001 and still haven't recieved my rebates from Lund or Merc. The dealer told me that they sent in all the paper work for them. It was $562.00 and a etrex gps from merc. and $562.00 from Lund. Having my fill with "We'll check with Lund and Mercury and get back to you" line of *****, I called mercury and talked to a lady by the name of Pat who told me that she never recieved anything from them and all she needed was a copy of the bill of sale. Well I took care of that and that half of the rebate is on its way:D :D . Does anyone know how or who I should talk to at Lund or a phone number for customer service?

Thanks

Dittop on 60 Lakes Jimbo. Buddy of mine bought his rig last year and has "zero" for support form those folks. I thought they were going out of business or very close to.

:o When I was looking for a new boat in 2000, I went to 60 Lakes because they were the closest Lund dealer, I ended up with a Starcraft from Spicers (Houghton Lake). I wasn't aware of all the problems with 60 Lakes.

Having been in the business for a number of years I could tell you
countless horror stories told to me by very unhappy customers of
60 Lakes. While in the business, I made it a practice to avoid bad mouthing other dealers but I did suggest that customers do a little homework and talk to customers I knew who had prior experience with a particularly bad dealer.
I have been contemplating putting together a dealer rating system on my website in which I would rate dealers based on a number of important criteria not the least of which would be customer service and support.
For the most part, there aren't any really "bad boats" anymore.
Rather, its the support or lack thereof that dealers provide their customers with that creates the image of good and bad boats.
Its all to easy for a dealer to pass the buck and blame a manufacturer for problems that could have and should have been resolved by the dealer.
Unfortunately, boats are no different than cars---some are troublefree and others leave the factory with problems. We can accept problems as long as the dealer is responsive to correcting the problem in a timely manner.
I would appreciate any feedback on my thoughts about a dealer rating system.

Walleyechaser,
Are boat dealers and their mechanics regulated in any way?
Like auto service people have to take tests for different areas of expertice. to become certified. Do boat mechanics have to come licensed by the state?

All places charge top notch, grade A prices, but come on, 100/150 bucks to tune a boat motor is pitiful, and I don't think most of then know what their doing.

Went last April to 60 Lakes to buy a Lund with check book in hand. Salemen was talking to me and my wife was with me and she ask him a question about having to wait for the boat I was about to order. He got all upset and told her that he was talking to me and not her, to some it up I didn,t have a check book in my hand, she grabed it and told him to shove it and we were gone.
I no that Lund makes a fine boat but I ended up with a Tracker from Bass Pro Shop and was treated very well. Had a great salemen in Douglass Moore and helps me out alot. But I heard of some bad service there also so who Knows.
I rate 60 Lakes as 0. My opinion.

I use to know an employee that worked there several years ago at Sixty Lakes and he had horror stories about the place as well. Two years ago a friend of mine lost the whole fishing season because they did not fix or would not do anything to his boat but offer promises. There she sat all summer while the poor guy lived on Harsen's Island and fished from the bank; promises, promises is all he ever got.

Boy, this topic really brought back some memories.
I work with the public, have seen everything, and all kinds. So when I go out and deal with people, everyday workers, not owners, I go out of my way to be very polite and respectful.
But after 7 weeks of a run around, trying to get a hold of managers, and the owner. I let it rip so hard on this service dude, he could here me screaming from Livonia to Trenton. So I go down to pick up my boat, this was early June. I get down to the shop on Allen road, and every mechanic is out in the parking lot taking care of Team Lund walleye boats, hooked to trucks for the fishing pros. I'm sure they jumped on their little problems for them.

Is Sixty Lakes still in business?
Last time I drove through there, I thought they were gone.

The shop in Trenton is just doing service work. I think that is about it.

Hate to make you guys cry but rumor has it that 60 Lakes in Trenton has closed their doors.

Went there a week before duck season to buy a new 25hp Outboard. I should have took a little lube in with me as they wanted to bend me over me for $3000 on a 2001 Mercury. Finally went to one of the local marinas and picked up a 2001 25 Johnson for $2000 out the door. That's OK, I like Johnson better even if Bombardier bought them out. Have not had any problem with a Bombardier product yet.

Can't believe that it is difficult to find a good dealer in the downriver area any more. Especially with the quality of fishing and hunting around here. Seems like the only good one left is Lockeman's on West Jefferson. They only sell Crestliner and Johnson though.

 First of all I would like to thank those who replied. I still was not sure about whear to go for help, so I found the telephone number for Lund in an add they ran in In Fisherman, and called them in Minnisota. I bought the boat in '94 so all they would cover would be 20% of the repair bill. Then the boat would need to be shipped to them (most likely at my expence), so I guess I better fix it Myself;) ;) See you all in the spring.

gee, guys u oughta swap boats every couple years like me! i have had bad experiences from trenton to howell to grand rapids. crestliner, lund, lowe, fisher, and inthe old days sea nymph. I have yet to find a dealership i would, honestly, recommend. i am beginning to feel , that there is 'no' good dealership when it comes to service. hence, i trade the boat every 2 years( like a car) and hope each new one goes the 2 years with minimum problems and hope for the best. i just figure the beating i take is the cost of doing what my wife and i enjoy, FISHING. i've got an 01 15 month old caddy that has been back to the shop 4 times for minor repairs and 01 13 month old blazer that has been back 5 times, and is presently awaiting parts for 'latest recall'. AT&T HAS BEEN OUT 3 TIMES IN LAST 5 MONTHS, AND HAS YET FAILED TO RESOLVE THE DISTORTION IN THE PHONE LINE!! comcasat probs have been well documented by all. and here i sit, arm in cast, after defending myself (in my own driveway) from a kid tryin to steal my car. so, in conclusion, it seems to me that the inconviences we all face are here to stay! and the old adage 'if u want something done right, do it yourself' are indeed words to live by
