This is one that I just learned for my nieces and nephews!
A teacher comes into her 3rd grade class one day and says that the subject for discussion will be phonetic syllables. She looks around and asks if anyone knows what a phonetic syllable is and everyone gives her blank looks.
She calls on Archibald Bareassol. Archicbald- do you know what a phonetic syllable is?
Nope, I have no idea-he says.
Suddenly Mary Smith raises her hand, I do I do-she says
Okay Mary stand up and break your name down into phonetic syllables.
Mary stands up.
Mary Smith- got you Ma got your (May) got your ry got your (ree) Got your Maree. Got your S, m, i, t, h got your Smith. Got your Ma (may) Smith, got you ry (ree) Smith, got your Mary Smith.
Vary Very good the teacher says.
Archibald- wanna give it a try?

Johnny Jones raises his hand and stands up
Johnny Jones- Got your J,o,h,n got your John, got your n,y got your (nee) Got your Johnn-ny. Got your J,O,N,E,S got your Jones. Got your John Jones, Got your ny(nee) Jones got your John-ny Jones.
