We got a late start camping this year but it was more than made up with a great weekend camping over Easter. With high gas prices and longer work hours, we have decided to explore our local campgrounds a bit more rather than making the long treks as frequently on the weekends.

We camped at Metamora Hadley State recreation area Fri-Sun. It was our first time staying at this campground that is only 45 minutes from home. We got a lake front site which was very nice. The weather was great but a tad bit on the chilly side, especially since the wind came off the lake. The campfire was a popular place to congregate.

The kids enjoyed tenting it and plans on sleeping in were canceled out by the honking of geese as our early morning wake up call.;) No complaints. We all had a great time fishing for gills, enjoying the hiking trails, and basically doing a ton of exploring. Saturday night, we worked with our oldest two boys on learning the fun game of Euchre.

We took our boat but weren't able to launch since they have the lake really low right now to work on some projects from what I understand.

I'll post some pics when I resize them.

Sarah,

Sounds like a great time! Gotta love passing Euchre down to the next generation!

A boat, tent and a trailer ? Were you on the N end right in front of the BIG brown motorhome ? My wife and I were over by the cg host site. Sure was a lot of people scavenging for firewood. Nice to get out.

Yeah, that was us and that motorhome sure was a biggie!

The people a few sites down from us must have been the ones collecting fire wood. They had the electric chain saw out in full force on Sunday trimming up their branches.

Have a great time dabarra3.

I think with gas prices the way they are many of us will be staying close to home a lot this year. Nice to know you have a place like that close.

I don't think you got the crab legs there but looks like a fine meal.

Lol, could have sent the kids out on the lake to bring back some crab legs. Would have made the show Deadliest catch look calm, lol. The crab legs were a real treat for the weekend.:)
