Well went out fishing this morning, I was going after some steellies with my fly rod when I ran into some very nice smallies. Heres some pics. I took these my self so some of them are a little off but all of the fish that I caught where over 1.5 lb the biggest went alittle over three pounds. It was 17inch with a girth of 14inch.

Dont be out catching smallies you will get busted and I thought you didnt like when people put smallies on the ground. Doesnt it take there protective slime coat off of them.

If he was catching them while Steelhead fishing then they are "incidental" catches and as long as he releases them after taking the pictures then it should be OK.
Targeting the fish, except for during the open season or during the "Catch and Release" season is an entirely different matter.
Nice pictures but it did take awhile to download on this ol' dial-up connection.

That fish was not draged up on the bank like i have seen many of people do. I sat the fish on that rail road tie and it never once moved when it was on there. It than got put back in the water with great care. No steelies going to try a new stretch of the river the next day I go out.

These flies are my babies. I came up with it last year and it is perfected now, all of my clients will get a few of these when they go out with me. It is called the Raisin Minnow has of right now until I get a better name. I got some steelheads on it last year before it was tuned. But now it is a fish catching machine. I may have some video of me tying it sometime this year, still have to work out some dates on that. I had someone tell me that they think it is better than the Clouser minnow. But I think that is one tough fly to beat. But it has out fished it a few times..lol

im pretty sure that there isn't a "run" of steelies in the river raisin/ rasin river....i have fished it for over 25 years and never heard of a significant steelie run. anyhow, if the body of water was the Raisin River, i would consider changing your target fish to rock bass with the Raisin Minnow.....much more believeable than targeting steelies. just an  for future referrence

How about a recipe for that raisin minnow. I'm moving to texas soon and it sounds like it could be a redfish fly. PM me, I promise to keep it a secret.

hey, get off this guys back! Ive pesonally caught steelhead in sandy creek, on nightcrawlers, while sucker fishing. Ive also seen just about every species of freshwater fish dipnetted out of the raisin. maybe if you didnt spend all of your fishing time with your line tangled under the macomb street bridge youd catch something beside carp. all the rest of you haters should stop letting your 10amp mouths overload your 5amp brains and give this guy a break.

blah blah blah.....when you catch one smallie out of season, it's accidental. but when you continue to fish in the same exact spot for them and then take several pics, it's not hard to figure out what the true target was.
we have all caught fish out of season, on the huron and raisin rivers, but when you are a guide and still try to catch out of season fish it doesn't make you a very respectable sportsman. follow the rules....that is what they are there for...need a copy...go to meijer's or wal-mart and pick up a copy.

You have just made some serious accusations, with out even asking how many spots these fish came out of. Just to let you know I'd cover a lot of ground that day. I waded a little over a half mile in three hours. I find it funny how some people on these boards like to bash people and never say who they are. There are other boards out there that require you to have your name on your post at all times. You never have people making comments to people without asking questions first. So before this thread gets any worse I would like to see one of the moderators, remove it. I'm sure they don't want to have people making comments and lower the quality of this board. This is the last time I will even post on this topic. I was just wanting to show you guys a few pics of some fish that I caught. If you can't handle that and take what I stated at face value sorry for you.

Well said. Just looking at the pics you can tell they were caught at different spots.
Too bad people get all high and mighty at times.

Same reason why I tend not to post here anymore. I still monitor the boards, but after going through something like this in the past it simply wasn't worth it.
Well said reputtal!!!!
