Anglers benefit from big crop, Wyandotte worm
A four-inch piece of brown plastic called the "Wyandotte worm" probably has accounted for the demise of more walleyes in the past three weeks than all of the restaurants in metro Detroit.
"It works," said Nick Homayed, an angler and charter captain from Dearborn Heights, as he and a couple of fishing buddies came off the lower Detroit River with three limits of walleyes. "You don't need minnows or anything else. I've been fishing it on a bare lead jig head, and it doesn't seem to make a difference.
