Look real close at the hind leg, looks like the knee joint of the far leg sticks out just a little to the right of the leg closer to ya in the pic.

I looked at the picture again and blew it up, he definity has four legs. His rear leg is in a shadow. The cam is a 1.3 mp, the older model.

You're right, it blends in with the tree. You can see the tarsal gland. My brother was in Brighton last week and he saw an 8pt in a field along side the road. Whats p with the bucks still having their antlers?????

im thinking three legged deer

I'm thinking your wrong look directly behind the bent rear knee and there is the tarsal gland from the other rear leg going to the ground.

Interesting shot, but I don't believe it is actually antler, I believe it's the tangle in the background creating an interesting juxtaposition.

I blew up the pic in photoshop to take a closer look. It certainly was close enough that it appears to be antler at 1st sight, but I had to take a closer look, because it would be uncommon for a buck to have antler this late in the year (certainly, not impossible though).

So imo, I feel it's the wood tangle in the back gound. A way to tell for sure would be to look at other photos taken from the same position and see if the antler looking item is present. I feel the 'base' is situated too far back to be actual antler. Interesting photo, tho. :)

I just about agree with you Sib, but it is a close call. If we saw another picure from that camera location and there was an "antler" hanging in mid air it would prove it.

Ya, your right! It is just a three legged doe!

But seriously, the reason I even put the camera out was because I saw this buck with another smaller buck feeding in my clover plot in late March. Both Still Had Antlers!
