Anyone got any ice condition reports for the Drummond area? More specifically Scotts Bay and Potagannising bay? Heading up that way in a little over a week and was wondering if the ice is gone yet? Thanks
Haven't been specifically to those bays but there is no ice in the Cheboygan area and the shipping season has started. In total, I would be very surprised to see any ice particularly with Operation Taconite (Coast Guard braking ice) starting weeks ago.

Satellite images are posted daily, and you can monitor ice conditions.
Good luck and post a fishing report, eh?

the ice is completely shot in the eup. everyone is getting their boats ready to go. and smelt dipping is about ready to start also.
Still ice in the bay, but its pretty black. At least another week or so until its OK to boat into Scott's bay.
Smelt are running, I expect they'll be done by early next week with this weather.

Well I will be there next weekend regardless of what the ice does. I was hoping it would be off for at least a week before I got there but doesn't look like thats gonna happen. Maybe the smelt will cooperate and hang out for a little while longer! Thanks for the reports.

It would appear that the ice has left the drummond island bays according to satellite imagery. can an "islander" confirm this?
