:smile-mad This is the second time back to the shop for my IR leaf river.
Brought the camera into the house to see what was on it and the reading was 15, had it on vdieo, so I tried to preview them and it wouldn't let me. Tried three times and it wouldn't work.
Called vibrashine and talked to them for 21 minutes today and come to find out they had my other camera listed for repair but not the IR. So they didn't do anything to the IR. I told them this is bull and he promised me they would fix it right this time. Promises don't get it, I've spent close to 50 bucks sending them back. Plus this is a prime time for the turkey's struten thier stuff.
Also had the other digital on a tree by the IR so I knew the deer and turkey's were there.
NOT HAPPEY AT ALL!!

I bought my cuddeback digital 3.0 in October 2005. I was having problems with the flash always going on and killing my batteries in just a few days.
I sent it back with a check for $35. The $35 covered the repairs, regardless of what was wrong. I had it back within 7 days. They updated the software and adjusted the flash circuitry. It works flawlessly now. I didn't have my sales slip so it didn't fall under warrany. For $35 bucks though, I still thought it was a good deal.

Got my Cuddeback in 2005 also. Problem was the batteries would not last very long. They asked for $10 for sending it in. I waited until after rifle season and sent it in. Got it back but have yet to check it. Other than the batteries not lasting as long as they should have, it is a great camera and we got some great pictures too.

I have had three LR cams now and took them all back. Two of them were the IR's and one was film. Now I only use Cuddebacks.

Before I had the problem with my Cuddeback, my batteries lasted for quite awhile. I was surprised. I have had my camera back out for about a month now and my batterly level is 3. 1 being the weakest and 4 being the highest.
I think the cold affects the batteries too.

NorthJeff,
Have you used them in really cold conditions yet? I could not get mine to function last gun season in the UP. The batteries would die in 2 to 3 days. I watched several deer, including the 8-point I shot walk right past them and the cams failed to operate. They had other problems too. The Cuddebacks really work well for me.
BTW, I really enjoyed your articles in QW. John Ozoga's cabin is right next to ours.

Hey, that's a great spot to have a cabin. I think John has mentioned you guys before-not a bad neighbor to have! Glad you enjoyed the articles.
My latest was the IR model, that I got for Christmas. I got around 1000 photos with it over the course of a month from Christmas day through late January, on one set of batteries. When I pulled the camera, the batteries were still good. The other ones I have are just the digital, no IR. During the summer I get approximately 100-150 pictures a week, and will typically go around 5 weeks between batteries. I had those two cameras out until late Nov., and I pulled them before they wore their last batteries down. The batteries lasted very well and it seems pretty easy to get 1000 photos and over a month on a set...even into the cold months of fall and early winter. I was very happy with my IR model and how long the batteries lasted, as well as how many photos I got.
I'm not actually sure I remember my batteries running out last year...I'd change them every 4-5 weeks whether they needed to be, or not. On the otherhand, I couldn't get more than a week and a 70-80 pictures out of my Moultrie...not even sure I'll use that one much this year.

Have you tried the video on the IR yet. It works well when it worked. For some reason mine wouldn't work at night, pic's or video.

I haven't tried the video yet. I think I'd like it, and maybe it would be a better way to go for me, just haven't used it yet. I guess I've been happy to just get a photo and with how far the cameras have come since the 35mm days..digital, IR and such it's still amazing to use the camera, even without the video.
Is the video reaction time the same as the photo reaction time? Also, can you still make pictures from the video as well? Does the video take up a lot more space in the memory of my computer for storage? I like to keep a yearly running of all my buck photos, and lots of doe/fawn family group photos, and I like to be able to use those photos in seminars with power-point presentations.
I HAVE TWO CUDDEBACKS, A 1.3 AND 3.0 PLUS SOME THREE OTHER CHEAPIES. tHE CUDDEBACKS ARE FAR SUPERIOR. hOWEVER, ON BOTH CUDDEBACKS, WHEN THE BATTERIES START TO FAIL, THE MOTION SENSORS FAILS FIRST AND THEY BEGIN TO RECORD IMAGE AFTER IMAGE MINUTE BY MINUTE UNTIL FINAL BATTERY FAILURE.

The reaction time is the same, but as long as the critters are in the pic it will take a video. I had one video that was 20 minutes long and until they left the picture it kept going.
Yes it will take up more memory, but you could always use dvd if you have a burner on your computer and like mine I use dvd rewriters. That way you can put more and more to a dvd and sort as you please.
OH, were you talking about the flash card, if so yes there also. I use a 512 and it seems to have enough space so fare. It's pretty neat to watch them eat and chase each other around.
As fare as cutting a clip from a video, sure!!
I would try it and make sure it works, mine is in and fixed and should have it back in a couple of days.
