I got this email today and will pass on to you. Using this information, we could contact Senators Levin and Stabenow to support the fur industry against the anti-fur wackos. It is nice of the wackos to keep me informed. We may have missed this opportunity without their alert notice.

"Free Market" apostle Frank Murkowski is at it again, this time pushing welfare handouts for the fur industry. Please phone Senators Levin (202-224-6221) and Stabenow (202-224-4822) and ask that they oppose Murkowski's proposed amendment to the Farm Bill.
Brutalized animals on fur farms are killed by manual neck breaking, gassing, and anal electrocution. Other animals have their limbs crushed in steel-jawed traps. If you wish to learn more about this barbaric and environmentally destructive industry, please visit the Coalition to Abolish the Fur Industry's website (www.banfur.com). That organization's action alert is reprinted below with permission.
The U.S. Senate will soon resumes consideration of the Farm Bill, an important piece of legislation for the protection of animals. While there are many pro-animal amendments attached to the Farm Bill, such as anti-cockfighting and puppy mill legislation, Senator Frank Murkowski of Alaska has included an amendment that would use taxpayer dollars to subsidize the promotion of wild-caught fur products under the Foreign Market Development Cooperator Program. This is similar to the mink subsidy program
that Congress overwhelmingly voted to terminate in 1995.
Please call your U.S. Senators this week and urge them to oppose the Murkowski fur promotion amendment to the Farm Bill.
