View Full Version : Closing down more roads in Nat Forests?
So what do you all think about these proposal to close off more roads and two tracks in National Forests and have them walkin areas only? We already have only a few areas to ride in the LP. Yet if someone buys a street legal dirt bike and gets the ORV sticker for it they can ride on just about any two track now.

If the talk I've heard is true I think it stinks. Where iI live ATV use is big. I love cruising on my 4 wheeler for just plain riding, hunting, or looking for new places to hunt. Alot of my riding is off road through the woods but I do use trails alot too. No matter where I ride I ride with respect for the woods. I hear these new proposals are steaming from the activists and that always steams me up since these people only see their veiw and can not open their eyes to the whole picture, but that is another subject all of it's own. I was born2hunt but I was also born2ride.
Yeah, I hear ya. All I want to do is puts around on the two tracks which if I do I am now a criminal. But somebody in a 3 ton truck can do that with no trouble.
Born, can you still ride ATV's pretty much where-ever you want in the UP?

Right now you can ride almost anywhere with exception of the forest service roads. I do most of my riding on the trails or in the woods. The snowmobile trails are endless up here so you can travel to many areas. There are plenty places to go if you like mud running and strutting your stuff on your machine. Thats alot of fun, the guys like to prove who's machine is best yamaha verses polaris verses honda. Usually you have to hook someone up to the wench because they got stuck lol. We do alot of for wheeling up here not too many dirt bikes at least in this area of the UP. Hoping the snow leaves soon so I can go out riding it's not the same driving my buggy out to the ice shack to go fishing. Happy riding, Born
Can't you ride those things in the snow? Especially the four wheelers with 4wd?

I have a yamaha kodiak 4 wheel drive. Mine goes threw snow o-kay if it isn't real deep, chains help alt. My hubby has a yamaha grizzly with I believe the super swamper tires on it. His goes threw snow great. The grizzly is a great machine and will be the next four wheeler I buy. Neither one of us are easy on machines but they sure hold up well. But getting back to snow. The grizzly does great but you can not ride the trailes now due to snowmobile season. On the lakes no problem. He drags the ice shack onto the ice in the beginning of the season and off at the end with no problem.
