I have a 16' aluminum boat with a 25 horse motor. Having trouble getting on plain with 2 guys. Is there some adjustments I can do to the motor? The height off the transom and angle of engine?

Do I want the engine as parrallel to the transom as possible?

What does raising the engine do?

I do need a new prop which I will get soon. So not sure if thats the total problem.

Also do the stabilizers work? Like the stingray juniorhttp://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/content/Item/01/57/24/i015724sq02.jpg

You should try tilting the outboard in. This may cut your top speed a little, but will help you plane out quicker. The 25 HP is a little light for that boat. A 40+ HP would be a lot better. Also a power trim and tilt is worth it's weight in gold, when trying to plane a slightly under powered boat.:) Try a prop with a slightly lower pitch.

I would deffinetly like to power up, but it's not in the budget. I only use the boat to handline the river and don't run very far where I fish (mostly cause the engine)

I have no clue what prop pitch I have now.

What would be a pitch I would want?

It looks like my options are 11 or 13 degree pitch.
