Fished the Au Sable today. Well really this morning, the rest of the time was spent wandering around checking things out, as I've been on the "other" side the last 3 weeks. River was low and very clear, though there seemed to be a slight stain in spots. I landed a nice purple-hued hen around 7-7.5lbs, she came on spawn. Seen a total of 7 other fish. Fish are still favoring winter lies, save for an occasional winter buck from a bit faster water. Alot of guys and few fish being caught, next week ought to be alot better, we need some warmth, I did find a few early redds, but like usual this time of year, they're empty. I also fished the TR and lost a big, scarred up buck lake brown, he was all colored up and ornery, a winter hold-over, he came on spawn under a bobber. The Tawas dock was slow, as was the mouth of the Au Sable, seen three out there, all small(4-5lbs). Looks like last week was alot better, but I think it'll pick up soon, I didn't really fish it hard, I'm still getting used to guys being all over the river again, man winter spoils ya! I'll be up again on Tuesday, I have time off for the next couple weeks, so I'll be on the river quite a bit, I'll keep you guys posted, tight-lines, I've got FRESH spawn to tie up:D ! By the way, suckers are just starting in Omer for anybody wondering, and very few people off Singin'.
