I am in need of some new oars for my 16' boat. I tried to use the oars from my 10' boat, which are roughly 6' long, and it was a sorry sight indeed. I was wondering what people thought would be a good oar length for a 16' flatbottom. Although I have a jet and trolling motor, I prefer to use oars in some drop down situations while plugging. I was also wondering if it would be better to use a fixed oarlock, or something similar to a driftboat... And possibly what some good oars would be and cost... Thank you for any ideas provided :)

I use 6'6 oars for my 13 ft meyers, you might want to try 7'6 or 8 footers. I think Gander Mountain and Cabelas stock them up to 8 ft.

When I bought my 14 foot john boat, I asked the dealer how long the oars should be and he said that they should be one half the lenght of the boat. For my boat they should be 7 feet.
