my question is can you hunt with a crossbow in a all bow area during gun season. i tried to ask dnr web site but never got a area where i could ask thanks in advance pykemike:)

Not knowing every area in the state, what area/unit are you refering to that you can only use a bow during Nov 15 - Nov 30? Give me the area and I will find out the answer about crossbows for you.

brownstown is south of detroit about 15 miles. it does have a shotgun area just not where i hunt. we have a lot of houses in our area with alot of big bucks. last year a guy got a 16 pointer scoring 198 5/8. appreciate youre reply pykemike:D

OK, I'm guessing you are hunting in one of the areas (listed below) that has a local hunting control. All of these rules prohibit the use of a firearm. A crossbow is NOT a firearm. If it is one of these areas, a crossbow is LEGAL to use Nov 15 to Nov 30.
BROWNSTOWN TOWNSHIP - R317.182.5 - Hunting with rifle prohibited.
5. Hunting with, or the discharge of, a rifle, except at a target range recognized and approved by the township board, is unlawful in Brownstown township. The Department of Natural Resources may issue permits to control the depredations of birds and animals by shooting or other methods.
History: Eff. February 14, 1976
BROWNSTOWN TOWNSHIP, PORTION - R317.182.6 - Hunting prohibited.
6. Hunting with, or the discharge of, a firearm, except at a target range recognized and approved by the township board, is unlawful within the following-described area of Brownstown township:
Beginning at the junction of Vreeland road and interstate highway 75 (I-75); thence east on Vreeland road to state highway M-85; thence southwest on state highway M-85 to Allen road; thence south on Allen road to Woodruff road; thence west on Woodruff road to the New York Central railroad; thence northeast on the New York Central railroad to Gibraltar road; thence west on Gibraltar road as extended to interstate highway 75; thence north on I-75 to the point of beginning. The Department of Natural Resources may issue permits to control the depredations of birds and animals by shooting or other methods.

Beginning at a point where Telegraph road intersects with the north city limits of the city of Flat Rock; thence north on Telegraph road to West road; thence west on West road to Arsenal road; thence south on Arsenal road to the city limits of Flat Rock; thence east on the Flat Rock city limits line to the point of beginning.

BROWNSTOWN TOWNSHIP - R317.182.12 - Hunting or firearm discharge prohibited in certain portion.
12. Hunting with, or the discharge of, a firearm is unlawful in that part of section 11, T4S, R10E, Brownstown township, described as follows:
Beginning at the junction of Sibley road and Allen road; thence south on Allen road to King road; thence east on King road to common boundary of Brownstown township and the city of Riverview; thence north along this common boundary to Sibley road; thence west on Sibley road to the point of beginning.

If you hunt with a crossbow in Michigan during the Gun Season, you must go by the Gun Hunting Laws! It's that easy.
