Livingston/Washtenaw County Bait shops

Where do you buy bait when you fish Pinkney or Whitmore Lake? The Ann Arbor Phone book shows one place in clinton and another bait shop in Ypsi. I cannot believe that I have to drive to Ypsi to get minnows.... Do I? Or is this yet another excuse
for me to go to Cabelas?????? ;)

Out towards Pinkney rec area there is the Dexter Mill in Dexter of course. I think that one of the party stores around Big Portage might help as well. WalleyeChaser might be best to handle this one 'cause he's in Pinckney and would know.

Whitmore Lake - I'm not sure if the party store at 8 mile has them or not. I know that there is a sporting store - Midwest Sporting Goods on the NE corner of Grand River and Old US 23 in Brighton. They sell minnows. That's just about 4-5 more miles up 23. Get off at the Lee Rd exit. Take the first right (Whitmore lake Rd or old us 23. Not sure of what it's called there). Take a right at Grand River and its the shopping center on your left.

Here's a few:

Mill Creek Sporting Goods, near the fire station in Dexter village. They have it all.

Huron Creek Party Store, on Dexter-Pinckney Road between Island Lake Road and North Territorial Road. Crawlers and waxworms, no minnows.

North Lake Country Store, on North Territorial at Hadley Road intersection. They have it all, usually. Pretty friendly.

There is a bait shop/marina on Dexter-Pinckney Road just north of the bridge separating Big Portage from Little Portage lakes. I think it's called Portage Lawn and Marine, it used to be called Froggie's. It's on the west side of the road, south of Tiplady Road. It's on Portage Creek (aka Portage River). Real friendly, they have all kinds of bait, including crickets which no one else has.

Another one is Klave's Marina on McGregor Road in Pinckney on Big Portage Lake, near the DNR boat launch. Not sure what bait they have but they are a fairly big marina.

There is a party store on North Territorial at Zeeb Road which I think has worms but never been in there.

The most reliable places for me are Mill Creek Sporting Goods and North Lake Country Store.

The bait shop on Dexter/Pinckney Road is Portage Marine, they
have all bait and sizes of minnows.

There's another one on McGregor Road just north of the river
that's a hardware store, Grubs, minnows and tackle---nice people.

Mill Creek Sports is on the north edge of Dexter.
