i have an allstar rod that i broke in half two years ago. i had that rod for a long time and have caught a lot of fish on it and had some great times with it. for this reason, i have not thrown it away. i just thought about a "fix" for it. Somehow i might be able to rig it up so that it is a 2 piece rod intstead of a 1 piece, any ideas?

This depends on where its broken. If its a clean break...
then you may be able to hack off a few inches on the butt end and an inch on the tip end and reinforce the butt end with wrapping thread and flex coat. You may also need some clearance to reinforce the tip end of the rod with thread to get it to hold up. The issue is that most rod tips fit over the butt end not into the butt end so this method makes the rod weaker.
This is assuming the taper of the rod allows this to happen.
You may also have to reset the guides. The chances of this holding up are 50-50. Often the clean break also creates some hair line cracks up or down the rod which would render it done for as it will recrack.
If after you survey your rod and think this method may work
PM me and I may be able to do this for you for nada.
What is the length and action of this rod?

im going to take a look at it when i get to my house in a little bit and look for hairline cracks. it is a 6' medium-fast action rod.

No problem! I have rods I've been using for 10~15 years after breaking them! You just need to "sleeve" the break. If it's down where the rod is pretty big, you can sleeve it inside. If it's towards the tip, probably have to do it outside. Simply put, get yourself a piece of rod that is bigger or smaller in diameter than the section of your rod that's broken. I am always looking for parts of rods someone has thrown away. Cut yourself a 2 or 3" piece that fits snugly either inside or out of the broken blank. Slide onto/into the broken rods ends and epoxy. Put a wrap over it, seal the thread and you are done. If the break is near the tip end, you will have a "flat spot" in the rod where it will not bend in a smooth arc, but what the hey, you saved your rod!

"Rootbeer",
Good description of a possible repair option. Another is to turn the tip end into an ice fishing rod if there is enough left after the break.

I had a rod break last year fighting a Carpazoid on the shores of Fremont Lake. I was considering having it fixed by your method but then it never would have been able to survive another Carp battle. As luck would have it I found the credit card receipt and took it back to Lakeside. The rod was replaced that day and I ended up with another one. Now I have a matching set of great Carp rods.
