I'm in the minority on this site----I do alot of casting for musky. Bucktails, white and red are my best producers. When trolling, which I do every so often, never been rejected on perch color---bigger the better:)

I f I had to pick but one color, it would be black. My second choice would be clown.

two of the people i respect most in muskie fishing on st, clair are terminator and bob brunner .both are members of this site. they seem to favor perch and for bucktails bumblebee (black and yellow). hey guys, please correct me if i am wrong!

I think if Bob had but one lure to use it would be a brass 1 oz Red Eye.

I have done a ton of casting and trolling in a cloudy inland lake and so far my best colors have been firetiger and sucker colored.

I don't fish for muskie but I would recommend the biggest bucktail you can find. The colors above are what I've seen guys use on tv and read about.

Honestly, color is generally going to be the least important factor in your presentation. That is, it won't matter if your bait isn't doing the right thing (in the right spot of course). But- General rule is natural colors in clear water (sucker, perch, PIKE- if you can get one, for Gun) with silver, white, green, blue, black. Fishy stuff. Even when Gun clouds up a bit in mid-summer, shouldn't have to change colors too much. That is definitely not to say you won't catch them on gaudy bright colors in clear water- you will, but you might also tend to get more follows than hits maybe (actually you will always get more follows than hits, anywhere, but I mean even more). But they may take God-awful looking things at any time too.

Getting back to what that bait is doing- move it fast, move it ERRATIC. If you have a follow move it faster and erratic-er! You will get tired when presenting the most appealing baits for muskies! Good luck!

Check out Big Tuna charters .com web site . Harvey has his own muskie lures and I can attest they do work my son and I have put quite a few in the boat with his hardware.
