Were you inside GPYC or on public land? I've always wondered what the spawn would be like near the walkway along the shoreline. Don't have any idea where I would park though.

WHere and what is GPYC? Wanting to go fishing this weekend but it sounds like it would almost be a waste to go to the Detroit River right now.

GPYC is Grosse Pointe Yacht Club. You are not getting in there unless you know someone and I am not sure that they allow fishing in the harbor. Perch fishing is extremely good just outside the breakwall in the fall.

Gunner7848,
Are you talking about the canal across from the old fire station were jefferson ends into south river road? I used to live on the point off circle drive. That used to always be a great spot.

I live in Harrison Twp.
The Selfridge canals are a has-been spot. I've never done any good there, but everyone says it was good years ago. The canals around Metro and from Harley to Selfridge are better - but you must have a boat, or access.
The spot on South River across from the firestation (actually just East, where Macomber comes in) can be accessed by anyone. You just drive up and park there this time of year. It's where the people park for their boats in the summer. Everyone parks there this time of year, as well as in ice season where they catch lots of small perch. I've never Crappie fished there, though. It makes sense. There's crap in the Clinton River, why not Crap-pie?
