I want to install a motor bracket for kicker. My question is will any type work on 22' Starcraft Islander ? Also is there a difference in the bracket for a 4 stroke as apposed to a two stroke motor ? There is one on e-bay for 79.00 +20.00 for shipping brand new stainless steel .Says it will hold up to 20hp motor will this work on my Islander ? Thanks

Four stroke's are almost twice the weight of a two stroke, thus the bracket is made stronger. I've have had mine (4 stk., 9.9 long shaft, 140 lbs.) for 6 yrs. reworked it last yr., if you run hard, things shake and loosen up, speeking of the motor bracket, very happy with my 4 stk. it just purrs, hopes this helps you~~~~><>...... We have an OMC bracket. A little expensive but it has a hydro assist. I personally wouldn't buy anything else. We have a 9.9 honda fourstroke on it. I did the same thing and plumbed it into the main fuel tank.

I would also go with the OMC or the Garelick heavy Duty bracket, if you are running a 4 Stroke....do not go cheap otherwise you can lose you motor which would not be good, pay the extra cash now and save later

Picked it up through the Cabela's mail order, paid $ 199.00. I put a T-switch off the main fule line, turn one way for kicker, turn the other for main motor, the Big Foot is just a purring machine, it's held up for me, trolling, back trolling , I had to go with a long shaft, boat sits high in the water, don't squeek on the bracket, heavy duty is a must, would cry :gaga: if it was to go in the drink, due to a cheap bracket, money goes fast enough, let alone throwing off the back of the boat, hope's this helps~~~><>...Jumbo.!

I put a 2' safety cable on mine just for that reason. I bolted a threaded eye thru the transom and attached a 2' cable thru the handle of my kicker. Serves two purposes, one being a theft deterent and if the motor falls off, I won't lose it !!

I have a bracket that is good. Had I to do it over I should have bought a larger, stronger one for my 15HP four stroke. I have it strapped down along with a safety chain but I sweat bullets every time we hit a big wave. Plan on changing it out this year. As some have said, get a heavy duty if you are going four stroke. When I change I will swith to a motor bracket type that will allow me to tilt the motor forward when underway allowing a better motor weight distribution. I do not like this thing hangin off the stern on the present mount.
The fuel thing with a four stroke is great. No oil to mix so you can run off the main tank with a "T". They run great and sometimes so quiet that I check the pee streem to make sure it is on. Only way to go IMHO. Of course all this costs bucks. That's why I have not changed to a bracket yet.
