But at least we weren't the only mullets out there... http://www.michigan-sportsman.com/photopost/data/551/medium/kack_002_2_.jpg
Man it was cold out there!!! Real hard to use slip bobbers when they are frezzing to the line!!Talked to half a dozen other boats...Nobody was doing jack out there.
Oh well....Still better than arguing with the ole lady all day!!!
Probably go hit the canals closer to home tommorow....I'm a glutton for punishment!!!

Yep, like i said, it will be hard to get into them for the next week or too because of the constant north wind will make it very muddy, plus this cold weather will turn them off.
But, the perch WILL be there for a while...they are still a ways from spawing, their bellies where still pretty loose, it actually looked more like December fish than March fish.

Thanks for taking my picture. We were the red mirrocraft in the middle of your second picture. Did you guys have a white boat??? I kina remember about the time this pic was taken cause I remembered the red lund pulling up shortly after we did. We ended up with a half dozen keepers but only one of the 6 was a good fish. Oh well...........it was nice day out.

Fished the trenton canal for a bit. Then went over to the dyke and didn't get squat. Then we fished a marina canal and slayed them!!!!! We had limited time and for 1 hour of fishing me caught 75-100 perch. About a dozen keepers. If we would have only gone there right in the morning!!!!

i'm just glad we weren't the only ones getting skunked out there saturday. had 2 guys with us who drove down from davison. as soon as we launched into the chocolate milk we knew we were in trouble.
of course, we should have called it a day when we blew out a leaf spring on the trailer @ 75 & eureka. that should have told us that the day was going to be a wash....

So you saw the only nice fish we caught eh, you know we thought we were gonna be on to something too cause we had caught a couple small ones before that.....as it turned out that was the only one we could work up that was any size. Oh well it was nice to be on the water again......seemed lots of people were moving around with nobody catching anything.

Thanks salmonslammer for taking that pic. I'm northwoods bro, and you are correct, it was colder then a well diggers **** out there. Did you pull any from your spot when you moved out to deeper water? I'm going to try headin out again saturday and giving it a go. Weather doesn't look much better for the upcoming week. Still cold. That wind was a pain with those bobbers, even anchoring both ends of the boat didn't stop our bobbers from blowing into one big pile. I ended up using spreaders most of the day to keep our lines untangled. Ahh well, maybe next weekend will be not so windy, and clear water.

How much clearer does the water get? I am not familiar with that area really and I was just wondering when it is clear can you see the bottom in 10 foot of water?

When the water is clean, it will have a greenish tint to it. We usually consider the water "clean" when you can see your jig down at least 18 inches. You can usually catch walleyes with visibility of at least a foot. When it is really clean, you can see your jig down several feet.

Me and pops were on the shore - my boat was blocked in at my buddy's farm and the combine wouldn;t start...right near the marina - only had about 1 1/2 hours. Caught 3 none were keepers. Great to be out though - even if it was chocolate milk.

Have you put a name on that crestliner of yours YET, Salmonslammer.

I made the madien trip with the new boat on Saturday. I think we're in the pic somewhere. We didn't catch anything.
Marked fish in a few spots haning a 6ft in 8 ft of water but they wouldn't bite for nothing.
Will mark this one as a learning experience.
A newbie question here, we went down to the Trenton power plant later and tried that. We got nothing but in one of the inlets there were thousands of little fish thrashing the surface. What are those things?

those are probably shad that you are talking about. there are lots of them near the shore now.
